AboutFrom Lower North Shore
[edit] About The Lower North Shore Web SiteThis web site is intended to be a central location where people can share information related to The Lower North Shore. We have added a large amount of information of the past couple of years, but we always appreciate receiving additional information. [edit] The New Web SiteWe have recently changed the format of the web site. With all of the new information getting added to the web site, the main pages and menus were starting to get cluttered. We decided to change the format to reduce the number of menu categories, and place all of the different information under these categories only. Hopefully, everyone will like the new cleaner format of the web site. [edit] Why The New LogoWhile I was on vacation this summer, it occurred to me that the Coast has never been about whales or puffins, but is about fishing and the sea. I think that an old hand made boat pulled up on the shore is the perfect image for the Coast today. It represents some of the changes that have impacted the Coast recently, such as the collapse of the Cod fishery. In a few years, you will not be able to find someone to build a wooden boat anymore. It may not be the most positive logo, but it is a realistic one. This boat also has sentimental value for me, since it was my grandfather's, and it was the last one that he built for himself. [edit] Special ThanksThis web site would not be possible without the contributions of people from The Coast. We would especially like to thank several people in particular for their contirbutions. Ana Osborne has produced a great amount of material related to the Coast in the past few years. We would suggest that you take a look at the Chevery News, and the History of Cross River. Dwight Bilodeau, who has been promoting the Coast longer than most people, also contributed a large number of photos, including many historical ones. Please see Dwight's Photos in the Photo section of the web site, under Old Fort Bay. The great thing about this web site, is that anyone can add information and make changes. Several people have been modifying pages for the different villages, and have really improved the content. A big thank you to these people for their contributions too. Our neighbours in Labrador. For some reason, the most active people in the Forum section, seem to be from Labrador. I am not sure why this is the case, but it is greatly appreciated.
