This beachfront community faces the Golfe Saint Laurent and boasts access to over 8 km of sandy beaches, a vast network of inland wetlands, forest, fields, and tundra creating an ideal location for nature exploration and relaxation. The Bob Nunez Misty River Hiking Trail brings visitors through the tranquil forest to overlook the Netagamiou River and falls. A number of rest stops complete with picnic tables, benches, and sandy beached basins offer breathtaking views. The paved roads of Chevery are ideal for rollerblading, skateboarding, biking, while the long, sandy beaches of the community and surrounding area offer many water related sports and leisure activity opportunities. Hiking, biking, canoeing, boating, and swimming are just a few of the nature based activities that will keep tourists happy and healthy. St. Mary's Island Bird Sanctuary This spectacular sea bird colony is a protected area, accessible only with authorization and accompanyment of Environment Canada Wildlife Agents. The island is visible and disintguishable from the beach of Chevery by the lighthouse signal which warns captains of the rocky shores around the islands. Festival of the Arts Most Coasters are multi talented and use traditional skills that have been passed down from one generation to the next over hundreds of years; skills which traditionally fulfilled both functional and creative purposes and that are still a part of daily Coast life. The Festival of the Arts will showcase and celebrate community heritage and culture; providing an opportunity to learn from local artisans or express your own creative talents while being immersed in and inspired by the pristine beauty of our natural environment. Guided tours of the community and surrounding area will permit artists and nature enthusiasts alike to explore and artistically chronicle the culture & area. Boat building, music, dance, poetry, story telling, painting, sculpture, drama, sewing, knitting, cooking, and so much more! Conference A one-day conference will offer entrepreneurs and artisans the opportunity to learn about the business side of the arts through lectures, hands on workshops. Trade Show Chevery was the site of a French fur trading and seal fishery post, which opened in the 1730s. A “Trading Post” will be reconstructed for artists and entrepreneurs in honour of this history as a symbolic and practical place of economic, cultural, and knowledge exchange. You can fly the local airline or book a chartered flight all year round. You can drive to Natashquan, QC (Route 138) then pilot your boat to Chevery's Marina; touring the breath taking shoreline by sea kayak, speed boat, or sail boat. You can enjoy the one day journey aboard the Relais Nordique (ferry boat) to Harrington Harbour, then catch the taxi boat to Chevery.
