Chevery NewsFrom Lower North Shore
[edit] Chevery NewsThe need for a community newspaper was identified during focus group meetings held in Chevery, Quebec by the Netagamiou Community Learning Centre (NCLC) in March 2007. This recommendation resulted from the expressed need for more information about events, projects, etc. which affect our community. Members of the community noted that… “we need to be better informed to be better prepared for the future”. The Netagamiou Community Learning Centre made a committment to work with the LNS communities to develop a newspaper... and the Chevery News Newspaper was launched. A newspaper is a basic information and communication infrastructure that is long overdue on the Lower North Shore and the Chevery News newspaper is no exception. The newspaper name is expected to change in future to a name which reflects the whole Lower North Shore and the impact that the newspaper has had… linking people on the Coast with each other, linking LNS expatriates, and linking non-Coasters and people from all walks of life with the LNS. Chevery News seeks to link people with each other as well as readers to the information, news, resources, and opportunities for learning, growth and development that are necessary to support the creation of a vibrant and thriving LNS community. As a result of the interest generated in the first issue, a Lower North Shore (LNS) wide task force has been established to further develop the newspaper. The role of the task force is to work collaboratively to research, develop and expand the newspaper so that it includes news from the whole LNS community and increases newspaper circulation on and off the Coast. This environmentally friendly, free newspaper is distributed by email every two months (Mid May, July, September, November, January, & March). A hard copy will be posted in key public areas of each Lower North Shore community for individuals who do not have access to a computer: All inquiries and/or requests to be added to the mailing list may be directed to the following email address listed below. We hope you enjoy reading the newspaper and invite you to pass the word. Anyone who hasn't received the newspaper only has to send an email request to be added to the list. It's FREE, fast, environmentally friendly, and full of news and info ABOUT and/or USEFUL for the COAST. HAPPY READING! [edit] Volume 3[edit] Volume 2[edit] Volume 1
