[edit] A new community resource of information and learning

The need for a COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER was identified during focus group meetings held by the Netagamiou Community Learning Centre (NCLC) this past winter. This recommendation resulted from the need for more information about events, projects, etc. that affect our community. Members of the community noted that…

“we need to be better informed to be better prepared for the future”

As a result the NCLC has made a commitment to publish a newspaper each two months (Mid May, July, September, November, January, & March). This could easily be a Coast wide publication if there is an interest and need with a Community Journalist in each Municipality. This newspaper welcomes submissions in all languages and from all the communities of the Coast. The name “Chevery News” is temporary, suggestions for a name that reflects the whole Coast are welcome. Since launching an initial inquiry to see if there was an interest in an electronic community newspaper, I have received an overwhelming positive response and number of requests to include submissions. This is why the inaugural issue is 21 pages! The intent of this publication is to compliment the existing ones (Coastar Inc and Coastal Breeze) NOT replace them. Let’s help each other learn what’s going on… and who’s doing what. The Coast is a vibrant, thriving community... the more we share the faster we will grow together!!!
