Lower North Shore Community NewspaperFrom Lower North Shore[edit] Lower North Shore Community NewspaperIn November 2007, a meeting of representatives from across the LNS as well as interested parties outside the region in partnership with the CLD BCN was held. The purpose for this meeting was to address and discuss the growing demand for a LNS community newspaper. The LNS Communications Committee was established during this meeting, with a mandate to explore the creation of a Lower North Shore newspaper. This mandate was subsequently adopted as a regional priority during the 2008 Lower North Shore Economic Forum. Communications infrastructures such as community radio stations, a community newspaper etc. are an essential service for sharing information, resources, knowledge, announcements and supporting cultural, community and economic development. Most would likely agree, "In order to be better prepared for the future, we need to be better informed." The LNS Communications Committee members include representatives from the: CLD Basse-Côte-Nord, Commission Scolaire du Littoral and Community Learning Centres, Coasters Association, LNS Community Radios, Centre de Santé et de services sociaux de la Basse-Côte-Nord, LNS CEDEC, CJE Duplessis, with support from the LNS Council of Mayors and a resource person from Medias communautaires et autochtones de la Cote-Nord (The above are representatives of a larger group of stakeholders). The LNS Communications Committee is in the public consultation phase. Please feel free to download, complete and return the short survey found below. Your input is essential to the development and future success of the LNS newspaper.
